Spektakulær event indvarsler jubilæum
Med en bredde på over 250 meter er signaturen af en Defender skabt på en bjergside i La Palgue i Frankrig.
Bag det unikke “kunstværk” står snekunstneren Simon Beck, der specialiserer sig i at lave geometriske figurer ved hjælp af fødderne. Denne figur er lavet i frostvejr og i 2700 meters højde. Figuren består af 20.894 skridt – eller i alt 16.5 kilometer.
Snekunstværket er skabt for at gøre opmærksom på den internationale Land Rover dag – den 30 april. Netop den dato, da Land Rover første gang blev vist på Amsterdam Motor show tilbage i 1948.
Det unikke Defender kunstværk er en hyldest til netop det øjeblik, da engineering director fra Rover, Maurice Wilks, første gang lavede en tegning i sandet på Warf Bay i Whales og foreslog sin bror Spencer – Rovers administrerende direktør, en bil med dette design. Designet blev kaldt Land Rover, og var begyndelsen til den model vi i dag kender som Defender.
”Land Rover er et ikonisk mærke i hele verden og konturen af en Defender er umiddelbart genkendelig. Det er i den grad specielt at kunne fejre 70 års jubilæum og vi vil fejre året med en række begivenheder og fejringer der repræsenterer Land Rovers –Aboive and Byond ånden og som hylder menneskerne bag verdens favorit SUV”, siger Prof Dr Ralf Speth.
