EICMA 2020 aflyst
Hvis du lige som utroligt mange andre af klodens motorcykelentusiaster forventningsfuldt har set frem til efterårets gigantiske MC-messe EICMA nær Milano med forventning, så må vi desværre i dag skuffe dig med, at EICMA 2020 ikke bliver afviklet helt som planlagt.
Det fremgår både af pressemeddelelsen der dumpede ned i indbakken på mail i dag, EICMA’s egen hjemmeside samt friske opslag på sociale medier. Arrangøren bekendtgør nemlig, at det 78. arrangement i rækken udskydes til 11.-14. November 2021.
Med andre ord – EICMA 2020 er aflyst.
Trist med trist på, og et lille lyspunkt.
Det ER den onde-lyneme en rigtig trist udmelding, som vi dog allesammen naturligvis bør have den største forståelse for, og mon ikke andre end os var indstillet på, at det kunne gå den vej.
Med forårets massive nedlukning af roadracing, aflysninger af klassiske events som eksempelvis Isle of Man og BMW Motorrad Tage, meldingen fra BMW om at deltagelse ved både Intermot og EICMA var aflyst samt annonceringen af at KTM også trak stikket for Intermot og EICMA, begyndte et dystert perspektiv at tegne sig for efterårets store MC-messer.
De ængstelige forudanelser viste sig at holde stik, da du her på MagaCin for ikke så forfærdeligt længe siden kunne læse, at MC-messen Intermot i Köln er aflyst i 2020.
Men som du også kunne læse i artiklen, var der imidlertid et lille lyspunkt. For som et plaster på såret afvikles Intermot 2020 digitalt, så vi trods alt får lov til at besøge MC-messen.
Men det bliver altså hjemme foran skærmen.
78. EICMA udskudt til 2021
På tidspunktet for aflysningen af Intermot var der stadig bevaret en lille flamme af håb for EICMA 2020, men den blev desværre eftertrykkeligt slukket i dag.
Det fremgår heldigvis af pressemeddelelsen at EICMA ikke aflives helt, men at en fysisk afvikling af arrangementet blot udsættes til 11.-14. November 2021.
I efteråret 2019 stiftede vi flere nye danske bekendtskaber ved EICMA, hvor ligesindede havde øjnet mulighed for en lille miniferie kombineret med MC-messen i Italien. Det er nemlig ikke voldsomt dyrt at besøge messen, så vi havde håbet på at møde endnu flere hyggelige danske MC-nørder ved EICMA 2020.
Det kommer vi desværre ikke til i år, men du kan være sikker på at støde på os ved EICMA 2021.

SHOWS, TWO WHEELS: EICMA POSTPONES ITS 78TH SHOW TO NOVEMBER 2021
The President of ANCMA and Managing Director of the company that organizes in Milan the most important international rendezvous for the sector, Paolo Magri: “A decision taken with and for the whole sector”
MILAN, 26 JUNE – The 78th International Bicycle and Motorcycle Show, scheduled to be held from 3rd to 8th November next in the halls of Fiera Milano in Rho, has been postponed to 2021. The announcement came this afternoon in a press release from EICMA S.p.A., the company controlled by Confindustria ANCMA (the National Association of Manufacturers of Bicycles, Motorbikes and Accessories) in which the Managing Director Paolo Magri underlined that “the decision has been taken with and for the whole sector.”
“The value and international leadership of our exhibition-event.” Mr Magri explained, “have convinced us not to wager on the evolution of the health situation linked to the Covid-19 emergency and, above all, to listen to and protect the whole of the two-wheeler industry which, with Fiera Milano primarily and our partners, continues to see in EICMA a successful model and its most important opportunity for b2c and b2b at shows.”
“Responsibility has been imposed on us and makes us act on a wide scale in the interest of the exhibitors and our visitors, postponing the 2020 show with a solid convergence of intentions.”
The event, which attracts hundreds of thousands of fans and which over the years has made its name as one of the most important events in the Lombardy capital for attractiveness, interest and visibility, has therefore only been put off until 2021, from 9th to 14th November, still in the exhibition area of Rho.
Lastly, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of EICMA, Pietro Meda, emphasized that “the 2021 Show will have great symbolic value and we hope that it can contribute to making fans and the whole two-wheel sector forget this difficult and exceptional situation.”
“It is our intention,” Meda concluded, “to continue protecting not only the global importance of our exhibition event, but also further enhance the strong bond with the local area and with the institutions that consider EICMA a topical and essential appointment not only for the sector.”
